Schildt, Michael
Player Full Name: Michael Schildt
Nicknames (no fabrications or exclusions):
Spiderman (depending on the shirt worn) , various variations on Schildt adding a s, z or using a u in the middle, dropping the d, more of a confusion I suppose though. I have been called a Russian a few times although it's normally German
Position(s): No place like home, in between the posts of destiny
Favoured position: goalkeeper
Date of Birth and star sign: 15/5/77 Tarus baby
How long have you been playing football for West End:
1 stint of 4 years and currently in the 2nd term lasting 2 years so far
How long have you been playing football for: 15 Years
Previous clubs: Trallwm (u-16s), Llangennech, Dafen, Evans & Williams, Saint David's University Lampeter, Olchfa School, Morriston Town A.F.C. (Welsh League), Al-Khoie Knights
Which club do you support: Everton & Inter
What honours have you won: Challenge Cup, League 1 championship, Player of the Tournament
Best West End Memory for the right reasons:
Being dropped by the "ever wise" Gary Jones for the quarter final against Penyfan in the Star Cup only to play as a bare 11 turned up and stealing the show with a masterful performance and two penalty saves, also going on to another majestic display for the Semis and picking up the Player of the Tournament Award with a rather large photo in the Star. Get in there!
Best West End Memory for the wrong reasons:
Watching the 2nd XI against Steel and seeing 3 foul throws in a row (steel twice us once, shocking), also being dropped by Gary Jones and watching Eddie conceded direct from a throw in 30 yards out against Abergwili, my darkest day. Oh yes, any Pat Butchers back pass.
Most difficult opponent played against:
Stuart Box for his knack of being rather lucky each time he has a shot, as you can beat skill but you can never beat luck.
Who makes you laugh the most at West End:
Any one of the ever changing back four, if you can't have a laugh at the back why play there. It's normally trench humour.
Who doesn't: Everyones a comedian whether they mean it or not
Most gifted team mate and why:
Gary "the owl" Jones' 360 degree neck and Dom as he never fails to excite
Favourite ground played on: Leckwith Stadium (Grange Quinn's)
Describe your best goal my best goal:
In my under 16s days against Suburbs, on the edge of the 18 yard box I controlled a long ball with my knee swiveled and performed an audacious bicycle kick and caught the ball with the top side of my laces and sent the ball 30 yards up at a 70 degree angle only for it to come down and clip the underside of the bar and go in for a truly phenomenal goal. I have witnesses! And it was my only goal.
Least favourite ground played on: Penyfan's
Why choose West End:
It's all down to Pete Warner, which makes me wonder what was I thinking
Significant others? A saucepot named Sian
Favourite food: Chicken Saag
Favourite drink: Black or white Russian oh and a nice cup of tea
Favourite film: Changed my mind: City of God
Favourite TV show: Sopranos
Favourite colour: Sky Blue
Favourite style of music / band etc:
Dub, Jazz, Lounge Music/Easy Listening , some Samba and a little bit of Rock
Hobbies (excluding football):
Day-dreaming, relaxing, cycling, ancient and contemporary history, winding people up
If you could change one thing in football:
More press for goalkeepers, softer goal areas & encourage more shooting (of course that's three things but with more shooting surely the others would follow)
Describe yourself in three words: smooth, sharp & surprising
Describe your style of play in three words:
unorthodox, unmissable & misunderstood
